Announcements: John Gendron told about a new "phishing" scam for emails. People are getting emails purporting to be from Arizona Federal Credit Union (ACFU), stating that their accounts have been disabled and asking the members to click a link and give personal information. The email looks very legitimate, but is not from Arizona Federal Credit Union and is a scam attempting to access personal information. ACFU said they will never ask you for personal information through an email. If you should receive such an email, the credit union would like you to forward it to them at reportfraud@arizonafederal.org.
Speaker: Don Deasy, Estate Planning, Estate Planning Strategies, Inc. Mr. Deasy discussed the following:
Four basic components of estate planning: Assets, Beneficiaries, Conditions, and Document Format.
The essential objective of estate planning is to prepare for a time when you are virtually or completely out of the picture - but to allow you control of it
A beneficiary deed goes directly to the beneficiary, without going through probate; if the beneficiary has conditions (too young, mentally incapacitated, etc.), your assets should be put in a trust
Secretary's Report: Kathy reported for Lin and advised that sometime in early May, the membership renewal forms will be mailed.
Treasurer's Report: Chuck provided the Treasurer's report.
Employee Benefits Task Force: Barb advised there is no report, as the Task Force is meeting at the same time as the RECOM meeting this morning. Donna Salemi will provide Barb with any pertinent information. They are working on active employee premiums now and then will start working on the retiree premiums.
Legislative Update: John Smoyer advised there is no new information at this time.
